Our 100th inauguration PubliBike station

On 12 October, PubliBike opened its 100th station at 37 Belpstrasse in Bern, Switzerland. This marks the first time that our eCOMPACT-Lösung has been offered to a wider public.

eCOMPACT allows a mix of Pedelecs and conventional bikes to be used. In August 2011, the first station came into service in Lucerne, with two different docking stations. Since then, not only has the PubliBike network been expanded, but the service quality and stations have been systematically improved. Cities such as Basel, Zurich and Bern are currently planning to issue invitations to tender for a local bike sharing network.

PubliBikes are easy to use and based on SYCUBE technology. After a one-off registration at the station terminal or via the internet, a bike can be borrowed and also locked up along the way if required, and returning the bike couldn't be easier. The bike is simply pushed into the docking station.

With this offer, which has been specially developed by SYCUBE for PubliBike, PubliBike operators PostAuto Schweiz AG, Swiss Federal Railways and the cycle hirer Rent a Bike have closed the gap known in public transport circles as the 'last mile'. The bike sharing system from SYCUBE therefore offers a sustainable addition to private and public transport in 'smart cities'.
